A Bit About Us
Madriz LLc was founded by Jose Madriz, an east bay native whom at the age of 10 worked with his dad in the field of gardening, leading him to learn the trade in Tree Service, Gardening, Landscaping and Construction. After graduating from the University of California Davis with a degree in Civil Engineering, he worked for EBMUD, Hensel Phelps and PG&E as a Civil Engineer and Contract Specialist. However his passion for Tree Service and Landscaping drew him to build his own business. Jose's goal is make sure the work is completed Safely, Efficiently, and at a Reasonable Cost. What makes Madriz Tree Service unique and special is his goal to always deliver the best quality of service to his clientele. His diverse background in Construction and Engineering makes Madriz LLc a dependable and trusted service provider. Jose is an extremely detailed person and analyses all possible risks to make a creative plan that can work for his clients.
Jose and his team have done two major projects for us at our house which is built on a steep hill -- adding several hundred linear feet of wood retaining walls to terrace the front yard to prevent erosion, and then turning our previously overgrown and unusable backyard into a multi-level space that is safe and fun for our daughter to play in, beautiful to look at from inside the house, and has a paved area for outdoor eating. Jose's sense of landscape design and pride in his team's workmanship are exceptional.

Jose and team did an amazing job removing some fallen and unsafe trees in my front yard today. They were efficient, knowledgeable, and professional and the price was very reasonable. They even inspected other trees for safety and provided suggestions and guidance. I would definitely call them again if we need help again!

I can't recommend Jose, or the skilled, disciplined quality his Madriz Tree Service crew ENOUGH. First off, this was one of the very few tree services willing to work with poison oak. And in one of my oak trees the poison oak, overhanging a neighbor's yard, went up nearly 80 feet. He didn't try to jack the price up for dealing with P.O. And they performed flawlessly, comprehensively, as they did for the myriad other trees I placed in their care. And "care" is a good way to describe my experience of Jose.
He really cares about the trees, and intuitively knows how to care for them. He also cares about being honest and forthright in how he deals with clients. For both reasons, you may have to wait a bit before he can handle some of the work that comes his way. I'm not suggesting he won't handle emergencies. Merely saying that my wait--while his wife was in the process of giving birth--was well worth the wait.
I've become a fan of Jose--both as a human being and as an arborist. And having experienced his work first hand, I wouldn't ever think to hire anyone else. If you have tree work to be done, give him a call. The price will be fair, the project will be hassle-free. And you'll be glad you gave him the work.
